Job Overview

The Manager, Network Operations Systems partners with facility operations management, engineering, and the MTech WMS Support team in all facets of technology support, including trouble resolution and special projects, with a strong emphasis on proactive measures focused on throughput. This role is located on site and reports to the Macy's Supply Chain Network Systems Team.

What You Will Do
  • Act as the primary system owner for Macy's supply chain Customer Fulfilment Centers (CFCs), overseeing all warehouse management systems (WMS) including Pyramid (WCS) and Beumer.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact to investigate and troubleshoot WMS issues at CFCs.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all 3rd party CFC systems, such as Pyramid Nexus, Knapp SCS, Fortna WES, Auto Boxer, and Auto Bagger.
  • Research, troubleshoot, and determine the root cause of system failures impacting operations, escalating issues to appropriate parties as needed.
  • Communicate incident ticket resolutions and root causes to the facilities.
  • Collaborate with the Local Operations team to conduct daily health checks for system performance and follow up on any issues.
  • Prioritize work requests submitted via service now tickets.
  • Participate in the configuration, testing/validation, and implementation of WMS releases at Macy's.
  • Coordinate and execute disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Develop training documents and resources for facility system users.
  • Communicate regularly with the Facility Operations team on daily productivity by function to ensure the system is optimized to support throughput.
  • Assist in training business partners and facility counterparts on implemented systems and process changes.
  • Generate and distribute ad hoc queries (SQL) as required for Operations and senior leadership.
  • Assist in the development of requirements for reports.
  • Manage schedules and expectations for multiple facilities related to all WMS changes or enhancements and provide regular status updates.
  • Document and enforce Standard Operating Procedures and best practices, ensuring training manuals and related documentation are updated and available for local use.
  • Partner with Human Resources and the Asset Protection team to create job roles with the appropriate level of systems access and controls, including managing ongoing adjustments and documentation.
  • Perform quarterly systems access audits and report results back to the Central WMS System Owner.
  • Promote Macy's supply chain objectives and business strategies, collaborating with various business partners and Macy's Tech to define and implement solutions that meet those objectives.
  • Demonstrate regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Fulfill other operational responsibilities as detailed by central leadership.

Skills You Will Need

Warehouse Management Systems (WMS): Proficiency with WMS platforms, preferably Manhattan or Manhattan Active Warehouse, and familiarity with material handling and warehousing control systems.

Technical Skills: Experience with inbound/outbound carton sorters, unit sorters, conveyor systems, tilt tray sortation systems, and barcode scanning applications.

Business Intelligence Tools: Ability to develop business intelligence tools and reports using Microsoft SQL and SSRS.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and make sound judgments.

Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership skills to effectively manage and coordinate tasks within the team and across departments.

Project Management: Strong project management skills to oversee and prioritize tasks effectively.

Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analytical skills and PC skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite, to analyze data and derive insights for decision-making.

  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 2+ years of experience in direct to consumer (D2C) or retail distribution environments.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on department and company needs.
  • Travel required 25%.
