Montgomery County Parks, Enterprise Division, is currently seeking dynamic, energetic, and fun Summer Camp Counselors and Summer Camp Senior Counselors to work with children and teens ages 6-14 years old at several different locations throughout Montgomery County. OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE:
Summer Camp Counselor - (Starting at $16.75/hour)
Camp counselors are responsible for working with children and provide additional support throughout the camp sessions. Supervise daily activities of camp youth participants, enforcing rules and Youth Camp Standards. Other responsibilities could include skating, playing tennis or other team sports (based on the facility), set up and clean before and after camp days, lead or assist with games and activities, prepare craft, activity materials and accompany campers on hikes and outside activities.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and at least one (1) year of experience or 2 years of experience working with youth in the field of parks and recreation, physical education, childcare, or a related field. Minimum age of 18.

Summer Camp Senior Counselor - (Starting at $17.25/hour)
Camp senior counselors are responsible for assisting the Camp Director with planning a comprehensive program or schedule for the day camp. Work with youth and provide additional support throughout the camp sessions. Supervise daily activities of camp youth participants, enforcing rules and Youth Camp Standards. Other responsibilities could include skating, playing tennis or other team sports (based on the facility), set up and clean before and after camp days, lead or assist with games and activities, prepare craft, activity materials and accompany campers on hikes and outside activities.
Qualifications: One (1) year of college and at least one (1) year of experience working with youth in the field of parks and recreation, physical education, childcare, or a related field. Minimum age of 18.

Minimum Qualifications

These positions are seasonal (part-time) and do not include benefits. Hourly wages are based on experience and qualifications.

All selected candidates must display excellent customer service skills. Positions require First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (training classes available). Candidates must attend in-house orientation.

Ongoing continued training and internal growth opportunities available.

A complete background investigation will be completed prior to hire.

This position is subject to pre-employment and random controlled substance and alcohol testing.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
