The Director, Software Engineering (application delivery) will collaborate with the Investments and Finance Departments to cooperatively plan and execute tactical and strategic initiatives enabled by technology and serve as the primary point of contact from project/program inception to delivery as well as coordinate efforts with business unit managers to form alliances on cross-divisional projects. Manage the full systems development life cycle management of projects/programs and provides direction for technical and business resources as well as implementing improvements in processes as needed. Manage relationships with key vendors to define and achieve tactical and strategic goals.

Essential Functions for this role include:
  • Interacts with executives and decision makers in the Technology, Finance and Investments departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
  • Directly influences outsourcing and vendor management to include RFP processes; working collaboratively with IT finance to negotiate contractual terms and best pricing; managing the budget/cost aspects of contracts; managing the ongoing vendor relationships; monitoring and ensuring that SLA's are defined and met.
  • Actively participates in long-range strategic planning and manages development to address complex business issues and provides leadership to cross-functional teams.
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations requires an in-depth knowledge of the company, operational processes, and underlying data.
  • Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people.
  • Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
  • Lead, motivate and develop an experienced team of subject matter experts and analysts, to create a high functioning team of professionals with the necessary skills to execute an implementation strategy.
  • Direct and control the activities of a broad functional area through several department managers within the company. Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
If you have the following skills, we encourage you to apply:
  • Experience managing projects across multiple facets of buy-side investment management and/or record keeping and retirement services.
  • Extensive knowledge and proven experience leveraging multiple software development life cycle and professional project management processes to deliver key investment management capabilities
  • Experience with systems design and development covering business requirements analysis through day to day operations management
  • Ability to efficiently and accurately generate requirements, testing and deployment documentation.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design and service oriented architecture principles
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Coach and mentor staff.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Thorough knowledge of full system development life cycle
  • Ability to give presentations and/or conduct training for IS associates, internal clients, external clients and other contacts.
  • Ability to lead teams; gain consensus of cross functional teams.
