Job Overview

The Principal / Director, Editorial Digital Content Strategy is the strategic planning partner with the Digital & Customer Team, Content Marketing Team, Project Management Team, Site Merchandising and Strategy Groups. This leader will architect and execute a digital content strategy in owned properties to drive sales, engagement, and conversion on Macys.com. This individual manages the relationship between core groups in the Digital and Marketing organizations while applying critical analysis of sales results, calendar and event timing issues, competitive factors and market strengths and weaknesses to the season planning processes. This individual manages a team of specialists (1-2) on the Content Management Team.

Essential Functions
  • Create a content plan and vision that can lead to growth in customer acquisition and engagement, that gets translated to owned media - Homepage, Cat Pages, App, Email
  • Collaborate with the Stores, Visual, and Creative Teams to develop actionable and insightful advertising recommendations for new product launches/takeovers, gift giving assortments, "hot" businesses and key promotional events. Develop innovative proposals and deliver strategic marketing presentations.
  • Drive monetization opportunities connected with Macy's Live and Macy's Content Studio
  • Utilize and summarize marketing effectiveness results to the Customer & Digital Team and Merchant Groups to appropriately drive future advertising decisions; involves high level of analytical skills. Evaluate owned placement and reach for each priority utilizing marketing effectiveness along with market specific data in order to maximize media exposure and performance in all markets.
  • Advocate for informed innovation, calculated risk-taking, and new media testing, and maintain Macy's position as a leader in the digital media landscape
  • Facilitate strong cross-collaboration between digital marketing, merchandising and content to bring campaigns and customer touchpoints to life
  • Manage and optimize 3rd party relationships to meet business objectives and ensure execution across key stakeholders

Qualifications and Competencies
  • BA / BS required.
  • Media executive with 7+ years of deep functional leadership experience in relevant paid and owned media channels.
  • Strong understanding of performance digital marketing and full-funnel execution.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies.
  • Prior leadership experience leading a digital content or social media content team.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to align the organization on complex decisions.
  • High energy and passionate individual who inspires teammates to reach their maximum potential.
  • Excited about trying new solutions outside standard approved.
  • Embraces a culture of trust, free thought complete transparency.
  • Challenger mindset and passion to challenge status quo to find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas - loves and embraces change.
