Summary Description: This position is responsible for leading the New Restaurant Opening (NRO) Training program,
which includes strategy, planning, execution, tools and techniques, evaluation, reporting, and financial management.
This position leads the delivery and process for the ongoing creation of training programs and oversight of new
restaurant training which results in delivering the most effective new restaurant training experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring the satisfactory completion of critical work and/or projects which have impact on department goals.
  • Maintains awareness of industry trends and market research; analyzes data and creates actionable business recommendations to stay competitive with industry.
  • Oversees NRO Trainer certification and selection processes. Maintains NRO Trainer Roster, including holiday planning and travel deployment.
  • Provides operations with tools and processes to guide successful new restaurant opening training. Oversees the creation, execution, and upkeep of NRO training tools. Manages and updates the training guidebook.
  • Oversees training for new training leads and Regional Training Managers (RTMs) on successful execution of guidebook.
  • Attends all NRO calls and facilitates training portion of call.
  • Collaborates with Regional Training Manager and Market Leader on Trainer Selection for each opening.
  • Attends restaurant opening training weeks, prioritizing new and emerging markets to ensure consistency and effectiveness of training program standards. Works directly with training leads and trainers to provide and solicit feedback.
  • Develops and provides NRO Training success reports, analytics, and insights to show progress and improvement for new restaurants.
  • Prepares debrief for each opening, including trainer performance, processes and standards, forecasted budget to actuals, scorecard results, and overall opening feedback.
  • Partners with Franchise Department and Franchise Training Manager to determine delivery of Franchise Opening Training Support plan, including review and approval of Statement of Work.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.


EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in designing comprehensive training programs with a strong understanding of external best practices
  • Experience leading large-scale transformations in tight partnership with business leadership
  • 5+ years' experience preferably in restaurant, hospitality, or related industry


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Visio (as applicable)
  • Proficiency in Workday preferred
  • Utilizes business acumen and internal relationships to make judgments regarding when and how to champion new revenue ideas
  • Presentation skills in order to present and communicate new ideas to broad audiences
  • Proficiency in Restaurant Operating, Back of House, and Point of Sales systems preferred
  • Advanced writing and communication skills
  • Advanced experience in executive level interaction
  • Ability to communicate, influence and negotiate decisions while motivating assigned staff
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Advanced ability to create and implement given strategic direction


WORKING CONDITIONS/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Expected to work the necessary time to satisfactorily fulfill job responsibilities
  • Must be able to report to work timely and as required by operational/business needs
  • Must be able to work a full-time schedule and work outside of normal business hours when necessary
  • Must be able to travel locally and long distances (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations
  • On average, expectation to travel a minimum of 2 weeks/month to New Restaurant Opening pre-opening training
  • Prioritizes time with new market entries and new training leads
  • Some travel, both locally and long distances (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations may be necessary
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, submit to releasing a Motor Vehicle Record that adheres to the

Whataburger standards and maintain current automobile liability at minimum levels in their state of residence
