Resp & Qualifications

PURPOSE:

Support the Office of the CEO in development of social determinants of health platform, including research, data analysis, document creation and project management.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Under the general supervision of a Strategic Operations Manager the incumbents accountabilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitor industry trends and articulate themes of social determinants of health research. Collaborate with CareFirst departments to compile competitive intelligence, health data, and other research and articulate findings for strategic projects.
  • Support qualitative and quantitative analyses, with focus on in-depth understanding of stakeholder needs, competitor actions, environmental trends, and core competencies. Proactively develop source data for project analyses.
  • Contribute to memos, briefs, and operational strategy recommendations for senior leadership audiences to inform social determinants of health platform decision-making.
  • Attend regional conferences focused on building institutional knowledge on social determinants of health.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Required Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities:
  • Active graduate student in Health Management, Public Health or Business School

Preferred:

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize and create a cohesive picture from a wide variety information types and sources as well as to assess strategic implications.
  • Ability to build collaborative, productive relationships with internal clients and information sources.
  • Strong facilitation skills and the ability to take a leadership role with both peers and those more senior.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex issues and findings in writing and orally to CEO, Board, executive, and peer audiences.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Independent/resourceful and self-starter. Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and to produce insightful and reliable analyses in a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Excellent data analysis and PC skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Salary Range: $18,720 - $26,000

The hire range posted is an annual rate. All intern positions will be paid hourly.
