PURPOSE:
The Vice President of Product Management & Developmentis responsible for a full spectrum of product disciplines. This role will lead and drive the management, development and evaluation of the comprehensive medical product portfolio including the business and financial performance. They will also develop the strategies with how products and solutions are implemented and brought to market; all in harmony with the guiding principles of our brand platform.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Drive optimal performance in the product and solution offeringencouraging cross functional outreach and team work to ensure the product setboth current and futuremeets the expectations of all stakeholders. Assess and present on product opportunities and industry trends in the healthcare/health insurance space. Collaborate with enterprise stakeholders to define the company's product vision and product differentiation strategy.
  • Drive the timely execution of product modifications, new launches and sunsets, as well as the implementation and management of a new digital management product catalog platform. As product portfolio offerings are expanded or modified, ensure consistency with overall strategic efforts of the portfolio and CareFirst member segments.
  • Responsible for the strategic positioning and communication strategies of existing product portfolio and creates roadmap for the development and marketing of new product offerings to targeted customer segments. Establishes and amplifies product portfolio value proposition and leads a team of employees charged with creating packaging, assets, and communication strategies focused on enabling sales and account teams.
  • Provides ongoing management direction, feedback and coaching to staff on vision, priorities, projects, and individual performance and development. Represents division in key corporate-wide strategic committees that influence CareFirst business direction.

This position manages people.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: 12 years in health insurance, product marketing and development, or product management with prior experience in sales and underwriting; 5+ years in progressive leadership positions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Deep business acumen and fundamental understanding of the current issues and trends within the medical/commercial product space.
  • Thorough understanding of product design with demonstrated product design experience.
  • Demonstrated success in product development, monitoring, reporting, and quality improvement.
  • Proven consumer / client centric mindset.
  • Proven capabilities in strategic planning and large-scale project management including developing, planning, executing, and measuring program results.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions through the application of advanced problem-solving skills and skilled in garnering cross-functional support as required.
  • Outstanding project and resource management skills.
  • Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

Salary Range: $210,400 - $315,600
