ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary responsibilities for this position include supporting the events and sponsorship team with strategic planning and onsite event activation and execution. Event management will include project management of timelines, billing and promotion. This position will also be responsible for reporting on current event and sponsorship measurement against KPIs.

Under the general supervision of the manager, the incumbents accountabilities may include, but may not be limited to:
  • Supporting the development and presentation of strategic marketing and sales plans, publicizing sponsored events, and corporate partnerships.
  • Assist with the on-site activation of sponsorships and events.
  • Helps to keep accurate and updated records of all contacts and assets, supporting the review of sponsorship and event effectiveness based on key metrics.
  • Responsible for the creation of event recaps and scheduling debriefs for the team.
  • May serve as an onsite contact, alongside team members, for the day of an event or sponsorship activation.
  • Help to coordinate details of the event or sponsorship, including billing, promotion, and other logistics.
  • Supports the project management of the program design by keeping track of timelines and deliverables, communicating with event suppliers, coordinating with production teams.
  • Identifying new ideas for sponsorship and event opportunities by researching and collecting competitive intelligence; exploring leads; evaluating opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:

CareFirst runs a year-round internship program. The ideal candidate is someone who can work throughout the year up to 15-20 hours in the Fall/Spring and full time in the summer.

Required:
  • Must be a student enrolled in an accredited college or university at either the junior or senior level (undergraduate or graduate level).
  • Current college student pursuing a BS/BA degree or greater, preferably in Hospitality, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Sports Management or related field.
  • Minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average.
Preferred:
  • Experience in event or hospitality planning, sports entertainment.
  • Experience in project management or organizational development.
  • A working knowledge of promotions/sponsorship/advertising principles.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office, advanced skills in PowerPoint.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs):
  • Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly understand and comprehend the situation/inquiry and accurately evaluate the appropriateness of the response.
  • Interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • The ability to travel occasionally within the region to other corporate sites or company events.

Salary Range: $18,720 - $26,000
