PURPOSE:
Manages product lifecycle (strategy, design, execution, and optimization) for products and plans in the Medicare, Medicaid, and Federal Employee Health Benefits categories. Leads the team in assessing product performance, forecast sales and membership in line with growth objectives, in the Medicare Advantage Bid process annually, the cost and utilization of all benefits to make adjustments annually, impact of marketing, sales, and advertising on product growth, and driving change through understanding the competitive market. Leads product pricing, packaging, positioning, and drives improvement of the P&L. Conducts market assessment and leverages insights to enhance products. Deeply understands the industry locally and nationally to drive improvements to the product lines. Serve as expert in product family and drive day to day activities to support each plan Works cross-functionally to understand the impact of the existing plan and drive changes to meet the goals and needs of the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manages market segment business and action plans in line with company direction and government programs goals (revenue management, cost of care containment, operational excellence, and driving improvement in all quality metrics). Provide direct support to the organization in all designated market segments, by serving as the subject matter expert; assisting in strategic planning; operations process improvement assistance; present presentations and trainings to internal and external stakeholders including Sales and clients. Meets market revenue and margin objectives by optimizing product offering, service, customer experience and costs. Provide subject matter expertise and leadership to all areas of the company related to Market regulations, policies, and nuances, and serve as an advisor on related implementations and task forces.

  • Manage and assist in the development of products and features for assigned Market(s). Identify differentiated, innovative, and value-added benefits to succeed in highly competitive market. Improves market revenue and profit performance by recommending product and packaging development programs; providing customer and competitor perspectives; coordinating introduction timetables with related departments. Manages all supplemental benefit vendors to drive SLAs, issue resolution, ensure benefit accuracy, understand costs / utilization, and make adjustments annually through cross-functional discussions driving towards maximizing the rebate dollars used for extra benefits. Delegate support from each of the Product Managers for their line of business.

  • For assigned Market(s), manage and assist in the facilitation of multidisciplinary product development or product implementation teams. Serve as business owner, point person and consensus builder for marketing, product, and strategic issues balancing customer needs, financial requirements and corporate and line of business strategic goals. Manage and assist in the monitoring of profitability, enrollment, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and market and competitor trends in order to recommend new products, product enhancements, or product retirements. Develop monthly updates and presentation of quarterly comprehensive closing documents to staff in order to gauge Markets performance and to summarize key findings and trends.

  • Manage multidisciplinary teams to develop and publish annual product/segment plan. Responsible for P&L for portfolio. Lead staff to develop, launch and manage products and process improvements for designated products and segments. Provide strategic direction to staff, review their work, manage workload and make critical decisions about priorities of associates. Supports field staff and regulators by answering questions, responding to requests.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position manages people.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Licenses/Certifications Upon Hire:
Professional Certified Marketer-AMA

Experience:
  • 6 years demonstrated progressive product management or marketing management experience.
  • 1 year supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge of product and product marketing principles, such as strategic design, execution support, go to market plans, and product positioning in all marketing materials.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Ability to partner and lead across an organization strategic approaches to product development and management.

  • Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

Salary Range: $110,800 - $205,673
