A Research Tech I position is available in the Parkhurst lab at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. A hallmark of many diseases and cancers is a dysfunctional cytoskeleton. A properly functioning cytoskeleton is needed for a wide variety of cellular events ranging from cell shape to cell signaling and migration/metastasis. The Parkhurst lab uses multidisciplinary approaches to study dynamic cytoskeleton processes in the regulation of normal developmental events and when mis-regulated in diseases/cancer. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate interested in the topics of wound repair and/or nuclear envelope budding/organization using the Drosophila model system. Additional information about the research in the Parkhurst lab can be found at: https://research.fredhutch.org/parkhurst/en.html ** This is an ideal position for a recent enthusiastic graduate who wants to gain an intense research experience before pursuing graduate school and/or MD-PhD. Responsibilities The research tech will primarily carry out an independent research project on wound repair that involves cell biology, developmental genetics, and molecular biology. Other responsibilities include general lab maintenance (ordering, caring for Drosophila flies, fly media preparation), and other duties as needed. The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.21 to $31.61 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
