Description

Effectiveness Coach - Los Angeles Teachers Preparation Pathway

Los Angeles, California

WHO WE ARE

TNTP brings research, policy, and consulting together to reimagine America's public education system. Working collaboratively, we dig into educators' toughest challenges, and we provide actionable solutions grounded in evidence. This work takes place in schools and districts across the country, and our national position allows us to spot trends, collect and analyze data, and advocate for policy changes that introduce greater impact at scale. Our goal is to empower every student, breaking them free from the constraints of poverty and race, fostering innovation, and driving growth across the country. We collaborate across sectors and with school systems to ensure that the 3.5 million young people who graduate high school every year have pathways to economic and social mobility.

Los Angeles Teacher Preparation Pathway (LATPP) is designed to support talented local educators to take the next step in their careers, increase their economic mobility, and serve the unique needs of students in Los Angeles County, especially students who are learning English or speak more than one language (Multilingual Learners or MLLs).

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As an Effectiveness Coach you will play a critical role in TNTP's teacher development initiatives and academic consulting work. You will be responsible for the performance of the program participants on your contract, developing teachers to reach their full potential as well as the facilitation of relevant curriculum and instruction-centered professional development focused on preparing teachers to support multilingual learners in schools across Los Angeles. This position is currently grant-funded through June 2027.

Some responsibilities and duties may vary, but the role of Effectiveness Coach includes:
  • Develop program participants (aspiring credentialed teachers) through direct coaching and training, ensuring they rapidly improve their performance.
  • Identifying and implementing innovative solutions for improving the overall performance of the cohort, individual participants, and program components to meet contract goals.
  • Support program participants through mentorship, guidance, and consistent check-ins, taking a human-centered approach.
  • Facilitate content-specific sessions for program participants during the semester-long Skill Building Experience (SBE).
  • Play a supporting role in building our organizational knowledge of deeper learning and a resource library to support our definition and understanding of deeper learning.
  • The expected travel for this role is up to and including 40%. This can be 2-5 days on site weekly. This will be during peak seasons (Fall & Spring). In addition, as this will mostly be local travel around Los Angeles and surrounding areas, all candidates must have a valid Driver's License ( reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities ).
