THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Sales function is a driving force behind the Primient business with a central role to play in realizing our growth potential. The team is split into two to serve our key market sectors: Food & Beverage and Industrial Starches. We are excited by the chance to grow our relationships with customers that range from world-famous brands to specialist manufacturers.

This position requires a best-in-class sales professionally who has in-depth knowledge of the pulp and paper, adhesives and building materials industries, including insights and trends driving the consumer demand. The Sr. Account Manager (SAM) is responsible for establishing and maintaining professional relationships with Primient's largest and most strategic Industrial Starch customers. Expertise drawing on relationship management and professional maturity to penetrate and expand the account relationship, defend existing business, and build new business via Primient product solutions.

This will be a home-based position with the ideal candidate domiciled in the Midwest or Southeast region of the US.

Key responsibilities: Strategic Account Manager, Industrial Starch Sales
  • Responsible for driving account penetration, expanding the relationship cross functionally and using those relationships to drive results with Primient's designated strategic accounts.
  • Manage strategic customer relationships and negotiate complex multi-facility, multi year customer agreements that deliver against Primient's annual operating plans.
  • Strategic account contract execution interfacing with Primient legal team to deliver signed agreements that protect Primient's position within the strategic account.
  • Develop and execute account plans focused on growth strategy and profitability within Primient's strategic accounts.
  • Monitor any variances and work closely with product management, customer service and internal operations team to improve overall customer satisfaction with the strategic accounts.
  • Capable of near- and long-term complex forecasting and account planning across multiple key account starch consuming locations.
  • Communicate with management by providing regular CRM updates via Salesforce.com; Call / Activity Reports, Sales Opportunities, Contracting Progress, Updated Account Information and Contract Information; participating in campaigns and proactive lead management, etc.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with multiple functions such as procurement, marketing, operations, sustainability and others within the strategic account.
  • Work cross functionally within Primient to ensure customer performance goals are met, forecasting, accounts receivable, transportation, customer service and compliance documentation as requested by customers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships within the strategic account R&D / Applications department to collaborate on innovation and new product offerings.
  • Function as the primary point of contact for the strategic accounts that are owned by the SAM with the ability to influence internally to position Primient for profitable growth within the strategic account.
  • Prioritize Primient's sales and technical service resources within the strategic account's organization to enhance the customer experience and position for growth within the strategic account.

ABOUT YOU
  • Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in an engineering discipline, finance or business.
  • 10+ years of value-added B2B Industrial chemicals/ingredient sales into the pulp & paper, adhesives and / or building materials industry, preferable with strategic account management experience.
  • Experienced Strategic Account Manager displaying professional maturity around negotiation, track record of success, identifying opportunities, forecast capability, well versed in account planning, strong understanding of strategy and execution with consideration of the big picture.
  • Previous experience in B2B sales at the corporate level of Fortune 500 companies of industrial chemicals/ingredients into the adhesives, building products or pulp and paper industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate a highly matrixed environment, both internally and externally.
  • Visible leader both internally and externally with demonstrated organizational savvy.
  • Near and long-term complex forecast capability and account planning.
  • Strong strategy comprehension and big picture execution
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate customer needs and market insights to internal departments
  • Outstanding communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be a self-starter that is highly organized, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • An exhibited dedication to safety and commitment to making safety a number one priority
  • History of success in both entrepreneurial and large, complex company environments
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% (combination road and air)
