Your work:

Product Underwriting & Delivery
  • Execute action plans and initiatives required to achieve underwriting and delivery vision and strategy that aligns with CSAA goals and objectives.
  • Assess countrywide underwriting for all product lines, select and implement cutting- edge underwriting and delivery tools to ensure product profitability while maintaining top-tier experiences.
  • Develop design for products' flawless delivery through multiple distribution channels (branch agents, call center agents, online, and other alternative distribution channels)
  • Continually seeks to understand customer preferences and competitive marketplace to develop underwriting strategies and delivery methods relevant to the customers of the future.
  • Drive elegant design for ease of use by all stakeholders (internal and external).

Strategic Innovation and Growth
  • Identify and execute on opportunities to streamline/automate processes, implement advanced technologies, and enhance risk assessment methodologies.
  • Squarely address the needs of the business and the end user experience in product features and preferences for product design.
  • Leverage advanced data science and upgraded tech stack to modernize our underwriting platform.
  • Develop and maintain external relationships with vendors and strategic partners to further innovation and expense management.

Market Execution
  • Establish robust protocols and frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks associated with modernization efforts.
  • Develops and manages controls to ensure operational processes are working as expected and holds responsible stakeholders accountable.
  • Provide marketable opportunities for stakeholders while ensuring our experiences outperform the competition.
  • Assist with delivering consistent experiences to drive profitable results from underwriting, and expense management, regardless of the underwriting cycle.

Leadership
  • Drives the execution of our product strategy and implementation with minimal guidance. Excels leading within a highly dynamic, matrixed, cross-functional environment.
  • Collaborate across functional disciplines and departments and possess the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of leadership. Key interactions include those with State Product Managers, Actuarial, Risk Management, AAA Partner Clubs, Strategy, Marketing, Distribution, Policyholder Service and Solutions, Business Architecture, and IT.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and results of underwriting modernization use cases to leadership and stakeholders. Act as a liaison between underwriting, delivery, and other departments to foster cross-functional collaboration.

Required Experience, Education and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in related area (Marketing, business, or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of increasingly responsible product development and/or leadership experience with demonstrated success in delivering new products and features from concept to launch.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating and implementing new 3rd party data sources and/or underwriting automation solutions.
  • Strong track record of delivering impactful solutions that balance the needs of the company, agent, and customer.
  • Demonstrate understanding and expertise in user-centered design principles to guide your decision-making.
  • Strong knowledge of product and project management, customer experience, financial drivers of product profitability/pricing, underwriting, the P&C industry, competitors, legislative and DOI regulations, and strategic planning.
  • Ability to define product strategy, product positioning, prioritize and articulate the rationale behind your decisions.
  • Experience working closely with technology partners to develop new products or systems and resolve defects.
  • Understanding of business & technology systems and processes and how they link together.
  • Thorough knowledge of forms, coverage, product rules, and rating.

  • Advanced degree in related field and/or CPCU designation
  • Proficiency in SAS, SQL, R, Python, Snowflake, Visual Basic, Power BI and various structured analysis and design techniques.
  • Proficiency in developing, deploying, and/or evaluating the performance of predictive models.
  • Actively shapes our company culture (e.g., participating in employee resource groups, volunteering, etc.).
  • Lives into cultural norms (e.g., willing to have cameras when it matters: helping onboard new team members, building relationships, etc.).
  • Travels as needed for role, including divisional / team meetings and other in-person meetings.
  • Fulfills business needs, which may include investing extra time, helping other teams, etc.

The national average salary range for this position is $136,000 -$152,000. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $121,000-$182,000. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 15% of eligible pay.
