Description

Duties

As a Currency Control Officer, you will:
  • Supervise staff members in documentation, verification, and reconciliation operations to ensure all mutilated currency is properly and consistently secured and controlled.
  • Serve as an integral member of the management team participating actively in development of policies and procedures relating to Branch and Division programs and operations. Provide input and recommendations necessary for development -of annual budgets and for preparation and submission of annual and other periodic reports.
  • Routinely participates in internal audits. Frequently conducts special focus studies to solve recurring or one time problems. Ensure Branch operations are fully coordinated, as appropriate, with other Division, Bureau, and other Federal organizations.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:

Identifying, examining and proposing reimbursement for those mutilated currency claims whereas the destruction of the currency is substantial and/or contaminated.

AND

Experience assisting with the training and evaluation of newly hired or promoted mutilated currency specialist. This includes providing advice and guidance as the examiners work on increasingly more difficult grades of cases.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.

  • The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for work days during the shutdown period.
