PURPOSE:
The Senior Business Consultant (Business Readiness) provides expertise in tailored, strategic, and critical work to help design, launch, and execute programs that support initiatives in the changing healthcare industry. This position will play a key role in delivering on all aspects of the business readiness framework on complex, enterprise, cross functional programs and projects. The incumbent will function as a champion of business readiness methodologies and implementation throughout the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide subject matter expertise in a particular area (including but not limited to two or more of the following: organizational change management, project management, communication, value realization, training, user acceptance testing, etc.) that contributes to the effective accomplishment of business readiness activities in support of strategic initiative goals.
  • Responsible for scoping, planning and leading business readiness activities for multiple projects and initiatives and ensure internal stakeholders, customers, and third parties are engaged in the business readiness program effectively.
  • Conduct business readiness impact assessments and collaborate with ePMO and other stakeholders for resolutions and appropriate risk mitigation.
  • Proactively identifies resources, builds and leads cross-functional business teams between divisions, and internal and external stakeholders to deliver value to supported project teams.
  • Provide stakeholder perspective to leadership and project teams and serve as an advocate for stakeholders. Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion and supports risk mitigation efforts.
  • Collaborates with project sponsors and the project team to ensure success. Ensures that all defined Business Readiness deliverables are completed on time and on budget. Responsible for reporting on project and/or program change management activities to the steering committee.
  • Facilitates Business Readiness Playbook activities.
  • Supports the development of business readiness skills throughout the organization; provides guidance on the application of change management best practices.
  • Ensure all stakeholders and customers are ready to use, support, adopt, and exploit platforms and processes from UAT (User Acceptance Testing) to stabilization.
  • Assesses customer change management needs across the project portfolio.
  • Minimizes exposure and risk on projects and programs, including optimizing the timing of release of project deliverables into business operations and preparing the client and stakeholders for the transition.
  • Ensures that projects follow appropriately scaled best practices and established processes, procedures and guidelines.
  • Business Readiness Playbook Process Improvement.
  • Introduces relevant best practices to the organization.
  • Contribute to the continuous enhancement of the Business Readiness framework and supporting capabilities.
  • Review and support task coordination while identifying potential process improvements.
  • Build trusted relationships within and across CareFirst to deepen subject-matter expertise, find opportunities to synchronize, and ensure close coordination with teams in their areas of responsibility.
  • Work collaboratively with other partners in support of business readiness (i.e.Training, Communications, Org Change Management, IT Ops Readiness, Finance) to improve our change impact on business in our current and upcoming strategic initiatives.
  • Manage resources (change agents and champions) within a matrix environment to lead change management improvement initiatives across the enterprise. Engage in training activities with change agents and champions to develop this capability and skill set across the enterprise.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to project team members of varying levels and disciplines on change management best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Organizational Development, Organizational Leadership, Communications or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Licenses/Certifications Preferred:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).
Experience: 10 years experience in business development, operational technology support, general business operations, project management and/or consulting experience with a concentrated focus on business change management.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or other graduate degree in business related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).

  • Exceptional project management, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent relationship management skills. Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships and foster collaboration.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects and initiatives with a wide variety of senior stakeholders across the business, drive business readiness activities for internal/external customers, support stakeholders in adopting new changes and collaborate closely with Change Management and Communication specialist for mobilization and gather feedback.
  • Ability to work closely with ePMO stakeholders to support resolutions of readiness and ensure adoption activities are incorporated into projects and initiatives.
  • Strategic thinker, data-driven problem-solving skills, and a collaborator who can drive engagement and discussions across business units for large-scale technical and non-technical strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstration of business acumen to proactively identify and mitigate business alignment and readiness risks.
  • Expertise and experience leading change management for technical projects at a health care organization, health plan preferred.
  • Ability to drive, track and assess value and return on investment for strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, provide options and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to confidently present to senior level cross-functional stakeholder and team members at varying levels with excellent, concise, and clear communication skills both written and verbal, in person and remotely.
  • Significant experience with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
  • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization.
  • Knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.

Salary Range: $109,600 - $195,910

This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilites of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business consideration. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range, as compensation decisions depend on each case's facts and circumstances, including but not limited to experience, internal equity, and location.
