Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Learning and Professional Development Trainer. Subject to administrative approval, this position will plan, conduct, facilitate, and manage highly specialized statewide/regional child welfare training courses and workshops consistent with performance-based training and quality improvement strategies relevant to the Agency's program and performance goals and outcomes for child safety, well-being, and permanency. The position will also provide on-going support to assigned statewide/regional staff in the development of child welfare services training curricula and annual training plans, utilizing a performance analysis process. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about children and interested in working to ensure child welfare professionals receive the best possible training to enable them to do their jobs effectively. Job Responsibilities

1. Serves as Learning and Professional Development Trainer for Southern Region

2. Initiates and makes recommendations for staff development and training policies, regulations, and procedures

3. On a statewide level, plans, prepares, and coordinates staff conferences, seminars, etc.

4. Coordinates, coaches, and supports assigned statewide central office and regional staff in the technical and professional aspects of their job performance for the purpose of staff development and remediation

5. Attends and provides input into work groups concerning policy, procedures, curriculum, and special projects

6. Analyzes data on the performance of Department training programs and initiatives and prepares qualitative reports

7. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires completion of a bachelor's degree in social work, a related human services field, criminal justice, criminal justice administration, or law enforcement

2. Requires three years of professional experience conducting training presentations in a business, government, or adult learning setting, or a related environment

Preferred Qualifications

1. 2 years of experience managing or conducting child protection services/investigations

2. 2 years of experience managing or conducting child welfare services in a public or private organization

3. 2 years of experience developing and implementing training initiatives in a public or private organization

4. 2 years of experience serving in a liaison capacity for a public or private organization

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to lift up to 25 lbs
