Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sanitation Worker.

In this role, the successful candidate performs simple repetitive tasks under close supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor in the routine sanitation operation of the dishroom, kitchen and service areas.

Job Responsibilities:
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Maintains a neat and sanitary work area throughout the scheduled working period. Sets up assigned workstation (e.g. dish room, pot washing area, and kitchen), collects supplies and equipment needed to complete duties; and operates sanitation equipment correctly. Collects and strips trays from tray conveyor, patient trucks, or bussing carts. Cleans, sorts, racks, and stores trays, dishes, glassware, hot water/coffee, and flatware according to established departmental procedures. Washes, rinses, and sanitizes pots, pans, utensils, and other equipment according to departmental procedures. Completes special cleaning duties as assigned by area Supervisor. Disposes of trash properly and removes from food service area; cleans and sanitizes garbage receptacles thoroughly. Sweeps and mops floors at the end of shift and throughout service hours. Leaves work area clean and sanitary at the end of each shift. Returns cleaning equipment and chemicals to storage closet.
    • Assures special cleaning in production areas are complete. Always use clean mops, rails, and designated cleaning materials and follows cleaning procedure. Maintains clean, organized refrigerator, freezer, and food bank. Always pays attention to corners, under equipment, and refrigerator vents. Assures pots, pans, fryers, skillets, broilers and griddles are properly clean and returned to proper working condition or location.
    • Attends meetings and in-services for utility/tray assembly employees. Assures management of attendance at meetings and in-services by signing attendance sheets. Demonstrates an awareness and understanding of materials and instructions given. Participates actively in group discussions.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be able to communicate, read, and write English well. Must be able to understand and carry out simple oral and written instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $21.58 - $23.78 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
