Your Role: As an Actuarial Reserving manager, you will develop and provide training to Actuarial Analysts, manage Actuarial Consultants and/or Analysts, and provide instructions and guidance on various projects. Initiate analysis to address business issues and ensure that all schedules and deadlines are met for project completion. Cultivate and maintain business relationships with internal and external clients.

Your work:

  • Leads monthly booking and quarterly reserve reviews. Effectively communicates reserve results and analysis.
  • Develops and maintains business relationships with internal and external clients, via project development.
  • Responsible for human resources functions to include recruiting and interviewing prospective employees, conducting performance appraisals, recommending salary actions including promotions and terminations, and administering disciplinary procedures in conjunction with management, recognizing employee's achievements and counsels employees on performance issues, promotes growth and development of staff thorough coaching and mentoring, provides feedback and guidance to staff relative to productivity.
  • Reviews work of Supervisors and Analysts and oversees the successful completion of projects within the required time frame.
  • Manages and trains Actuarial Supervisors and/or Analysts within the department.
  • Manages Teams time and workload and recommends tradeoffs to leadership
  • Demonstrates the ability to balance the achievement of business results with constrained human capital

Required Experience, Education and Skills
  • BA/BS in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science or related area and 5 years of post bachelor experience performing statistical and actuarial analysis on personal line insurance
  • Or Graduate degree in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science or related area and 3 years experience performing statistical and actuarial analysis on personal lines insurance
  • ACAS (Associate in Casualty Actuarial Society)
  • Have a solid understanding of the market landscape
  • Requires strong decision-making, leadership and motivational skills
  • Requires the ability to coach, mentor, evaluate and provide training, guidance and constructive feedback to professional staff

  • FCAS
  • Expert-level problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills, including the ability to give formal presentations.
  • Proven team leadership ability.
  • In depth actuarial industry knowledge and knowledge of the insurance marketplace.
  • Ability to prioritize work, organizes time, and balances multiple projects
  • Creates a collaborative, inclusive and psychologically safe environment, demonstrating authenticity and fostering trust to inspire and empower team members and colleagues

The national average salary range for this position is $151,000- $168,000. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $136,000 - $201,000. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 15% of eligible pay.
