NUR 109 Pediatrics Clinical Nursing Concepts 2A: Maternal-Child Course focuses on care of the patient from conception through adolescence. The nursing process will be utilized and adapted in implementing and coordinating patient centered care, and critical thinking. Students will experience being a member of the healthcare team, develop effective communication skills, utilize technology and incorporate care that promotes patient safety. Principles of evidence-based practice (EBP) will be explored and applied to patient care. Nursing skills are taught in the Nursing Lab, the college's Simulation Hospital, and implemented in health care facilities. Part-time faculty are paid on a lecture hour equivalents (LHE) basis. For most courses, the LHE is the same as a credit hour. For others, the LHE represents additional work for teaching the class, such as grading papers for Composition classes or teaching a class with a laboratory section (computers, languages, and the sciences); in those cases, the LHE represents a figure higher than the credit hour. All part-time faculty start at the beginning pay rates, regardless of the level and type of experience obtained elsewhere. Those rates for the 2023-24 academic year are $1182/LHE for faculty without doctorates and $1253/LHE for faculty with doctorates. Salary may change due to the completion of the Adjunct Faculty contract.
