Business Development Manager, Co-Products

Location: Based in Decatur, IL

Reports to: Director, Co-Products & Ethanol

At Primient we are excited to be on a journey of evolution from our legacy co-products sales approach to an animal nutrition focused product and brand development trajectory. As the Business Development Manager on our team you will focus on product development and innovation through a technical sales lens. You will work cross functionally with internal commercial sales, R&D, regulatory, and operational teams to validate and scope market opportunities and Primient's ability to participate in them. You will have a healthy balance of curiosity and desire for fact-based decisions as you champion opportunities to leadership within the Commodities Team and Senior Leadership Team for Primient.

Responsibilities:
  • Actively analyze and research animal nutrition markets to identify opportunities for which corn based elements can provide a solution
  • Collaborate with internal sales and operational teams to identify areas of opportunity that align well with Primient's customer demographic and operational capability
  • Initiate research projects and partnerships with industry experts, universities, and consultants
  • Project management of product developments or innovations selected to advance by leadership
  • Actively participate in industry associations, innovation and product development platforms, and research projects pertaining to corn milling feedstuffs
  • Technical sales strategy deployment and support

Experience:
  • 10+ years of combined education or experience in animal sciences, nutrition/ration building, or technical sales of feedstuffs from corn milling/processing
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research projects, project management, and strong presentation skills
  • Established accreditation or relationships with industry innovation incubators or universities
  • Critical thinking, strong analytics and financial acumen
  • Breadth of experience collaborating across functions is preferred (commercial, manufacturing, finance, ect)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and influence others without authority
