The AstraZeneca Mt. Vernon site was established in 1972 and is the flagship site delivering innovative, life changing oral solid medicines. At the site we formulate and pack OSD tablets and capsules for over 60+ markets. The Mt Vernon site is complex, the largest AZ production site in the US with over 700+ employees. Join our Operations team as a Microbiologist I/II, where you will be responsible for routine microbial testing on product, utilities, and environmental monitoring of GMP areas. This role provides routine support to QC Microbiology lab while developing as a subject matter expert (SME) in one or more areas. You will have the opportunity to mentor analysts, lead QC projects, and author/review QC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols, reports, and GMP documents. This role may include shift/weekend work.

As a Microbiologist I/II, you will perform data review activities, participate in QC Team Discussions, maintain inventories of reagents, glassware and other supplies, and maintain current, complete, legible notebooks and laboratory records in compliance with good scientific and regulatory practices. You will also be responsible for writing and executing laboratory investigations for known lab errors and Out of Specification (OOS) results using the current electronic deviation system and/or other QC procedures.

Essential Skills/Experience:

Microbiologist I

-Bachelor degree in a scientific or relevant field or a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated relevant experience in Quality Control lab setting.

Microbiologist II
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific or relevant field.
- 2-4 years of laboratory experience
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of QC techniques, methods, and processes.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology or a related discipline
- 3-5 years laboratory experience
- High level of knowledge and competence across multiple pieces of laboratory equipment, or a QC/QA process or system.
