Summary:

The Radiation Safety Officer is directly responsible for the radiation safety program for CCMC, CCPN, and CCMC-P. This position is responsible for the implementation, education and compliance of radiation safety with all state and federal regulatory requirements. This position works directly with the Department Director of Radiology and Medical Physicist, insuring the safety of staff, patients, families, and visitors. This position reports to the Department Director of Radiology.

$12,500 sign on bonus!

Education & Experience

1. Master's Degree required.

2. Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine

Technology Certification Board or ARRT (N) registered.

3. Texas licensed Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist

4. Certified Health Physicist with three years previous documented experience

in radiation safety, including radioactive materials. Has written attestation,

signed by a preceptor RSO to include following training radioactive materials

listed on Cook Children's Radioactive Material License.

5. Completed 200 hours of classroom and laboratory training in following areas:

i. Radiation physics and instrumentation;

ii. Radiation protection;

iii. Mathematic pertaining to the use and measurement o radioactivity;

iv. Radiation biology;

v. Radiation dosimetry.

6. One year of radiation safety experience under the supervision of an RSO on a

license authorizing similar types of uses at Cook.

7. Experience with I-131 therapy including unsealed radioactive material that re

quires a written directive. Training in radiation safety, regulatory issues,

emergency procedures for types of radioactive material.Experience must

have been completed within the previous 7 years.Written attestation

required.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification

Certified Health Physicist or Nuclear Medicine Technologist or Radiation Therapist licensure required.
