Description

The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking an Analyst, Payroll for our Chicago Office. This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote).

Starting base salary = $58,000 - $72,500 (commensurate with related experience).

Responsible for efficient and timely operation of payroll processes as well as accurate and complete information to support corporate financial statements and staff. This position ensures that employees are paid in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with AHA policies as well as applicable federal and state FLSA laws. This position also provides customer services to resolve and respond to any payroll questions or issues from employees and managers.
  1. Administer and process bi-weekly, off-cycle and annual payroll, including reviewing timesheets and entering timesheet data. Verify check register, labor distribution, taxes, 401k, and employee deductions. Process court-ordered deductions, including levies, child support and garnishments. Process final payments to terminated employees and maintain severance payouts.
  2. Enter codes and updates all employee payroll records into the payroll system. Maintains these records, including banking information, tax deductions, benefit deductions, and other information. Archives and maintains all employee and company confidential payroll records and documentation.
  3. Process deduction payments, including transit, PMDA, PAC and other miscellaneous deductions. Prepare various benefit vendor reports and related requests for funding.
  4. Review and work with employees to resolve missing and incorrect timesheet information prior to each payroll. Coordinate and coach new hire timesheet training. Collaborate with Human Resources on paid time off policy and procedures.
  5. Research, resolve, and respond to payroll questions and issues for employees and managers and make the necessary adjustments as needed.
  6. Prepare costing reports for each payroll (HRET and others requested), and prepare quarterly lobbying reports.
  7. Maintain payroll-related accounts and responsible for the reconciliation and accuracy of one or more accounts.
  8. Assist Manager, Payroll in updating processes and procedures to improve payroll efficiency and accuracy; and in gathering information for management.
  9. Gather information for audits of various payroll areas and prepare materials for external or internal auditors.
  10. Perform other duties as they might be assigned by other areas within Finance/Accounting.

This position also provides support to the general accounting functions within AHA as needed and assigned.
