Location: Medical Office Building-Fort Worth (750 8th Ave) Department: Genetics Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Standard Weekly Hours: 40 Summary: The PN Genetic Counselor II provides advanced genetic counseling services and support to pediatric patients and their families referred to or seen in Cook Children's Specialty Clinics, offer education and support, and contribute to the development and implementation of genetic programs. The role serves as the primary case manager for assigned genetics patients. This position requires a high level of autonomy, expertise, and the ability to independently handle complex cases. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting providers with ordering genetic tests and related tasks (such as working with the insurance specialist on benefits, composing letters of medical necessity, and coordinating specimen submission); researching abnormal lab results; initially notifying patients/families; and participating in genetic counseling for abnormal results. The role provides genetic information in response to inquiries from patients, families, referring providers, and others. This position works collaboratively with providers, other clinical support staff, and front office staff while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. This position will require travel to various specialty clinics throughout the network. The PN Genetic Counselor II is differentiated on the basis of supervisory control exercised by the supervisor over the position.
