Your Role: Data Governance Advisor, Senior will be responsible for promoting effective governance practices, assist in the maintenance and adoption of the AI policies and standards framework, streamlining and optimizing governance processes, and identifying actionable insights to close compliance gaps. This role will play a key role in fostering collaboration, driving compliance, and continuously improving AI governance within the organization.

Your work:

  • Actively engage with the enterprise AI community to promote understanding and adoption of AI policies and standards framework, fostering a culture of responsible and ethical AI use.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain an inventory of all models (statistical, machine learning, AI, GenAI) used within the organization.
  • Establish clear ownership and assess risk ratings to models based on their complexity, regulatory compliance, impact, and usage.
  • Partners with internal groups and/or vendors to maintain complete and accurate AI Model metadata.
  • Continuously monitor model performance and ensure compliance with established policies.
  • Oversee the validation/testing process, including defining the scope, assessing validation results, and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Participate in AI Model Governance oversight processes, measurement and implements consistency to policies and standards and through audits, peer reviews, and monitoring of KRIs.
  • Design reporting and metrics frameworks for project management and executive-level reports to provide a strategic view of AI governance to key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and optimization to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of AI governance operations.
  • Keep abreast with regulatory and Department of Insurance expectations and evolving regulations on AI Model risks.
  • Develop and implement frameworks, processes, and controls for Model Risk Management.
  • Engage in the development of policies, standards and procedures and coordinate with partners through the approval process.
  • Enable and promote awareness on AI Model governance policies and standards to the Model owners and Model developer community.
  • Implement and monitor alignment to enterprise AI Model governance policies and standards.
  • Development of controls to mitigate AI/Model risks, implementing, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Identifies and handles existing and emerging AI Model risks that stem from business activities.
  • Support internal audits and co-ordinate with Enterprise Risk Office in mitigating AI Model risks.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, reported, and controlled.
  • Assists in conducting current assessment of AI Model Governance process and tools and proposing recommendations for improvements to peers, community, and the next level of leadership.
  • Anticipates, analyzes, and effectively resolves problems and issues; makes recommendations and identifies when and how to escalate problems to the appropriate level.
  • Operates independently and with peers to execute AI Model Governance and Model Risk management practices and processes.
  • Highlights recommendations around compliance to AI Model Governance solutions through design/governance reviews against internal policies, standards.

Required Experience, Education and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, data science or a related field.
  • Four years of work experience in Model governance, Model Risk Management, Audit, information management can be substituted in lieu of a degree in addition to the minimum years of work experience.
  • Six plus years of experience in Model risk management related practices, risk, and audit.
  • Experience in deploying AI Model governance, Model Risk programs across a large enterprise.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of AI governance principles, including ethical considerations, regulatory compliance (e.g., EU AI Act and AI Executive Order) and risk management frameworks (e.g., NIST framework)
  • Strong understanding of bias testing and remediation for machine learning and generative AI models
  • General understanding of risk and compliance principals applied to AI Model Governance and data management solutions.
  • Proven experiences in AI ethics, governance, compliance, or related roles
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence change within complex organizational structures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Knowledge of compliance monitoring and/or auditing principles.
  • Knowledge of privacy, security, and AI Model governance standards.
  • AI Model Governance policy, standard, controls establishment, enforcement, and monitoring.
  • Capable of independently authoring and communicating technical and business information in a variety of formats and explaining complex and/or technical topics relating to AI Model governance.
  • Strong written and verbal skills, including a demonstrated ability to translate sophisticated or technical information into concepts that are easily understood.
  • Strong strategic, interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills required.
  • Preferred- Hands on experience with data management tool such as Collibra.
  • Actively shapes our company culture (e.g., participating in employee resource groups, volunteering, etc.)
  • Lives into cultural norms (e.g., willing to have cameras when it matters: helping onboard new team members, building relationships, etc.)
  • Travels as needed for role, including divisional / team meetings and other in-person meetings
  • Fulfills business needs, which may include investing extra time, helping other teams, etc

The national average salary range for this position is $122,00-$136,000. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $109,000-$163,000. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 10% of eligible pay.
