Accountabilities:

As the Translational Science lead, you will hold a senior leadership position within a new and dynamic organization at AstraZeneca. Reporting directly to the head of Immunology Cell Therapy in Boston, you will oversee the implementation of translational and biomarker objectives for cellular therapies for immune-mediated diseases. Your focus will be on ensuring effective collaborations between research and development, establishing strong target-to-disease connections, and building a cross-functional team to identify new indications, differentiate AZ cellular therapeutics, and drive translational understanding of clinical trial data.

Essential Skills/Experience:
  • Ph.D. or MD in related science-based field and/or medically qualified with greater than 10 years of Pharma industry experience, preferably in immunology and cell therapies.
  • Expertise & experience in all stages of the drug development process coupled with the appropriate regulatory insights.
  • Strong knowledge of the pathogenesis of immune mediated disease and the application of cellular, molecular technologies and models to drive program decisions.
  • Prior experience in BM efforts, IND filing and ideally BAL filing.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language and in alignment with AZ stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in delivering high risk program/projects and decision making.
  • Proven skills and experience of managing and controlling budgets.
  • Ability to convince and manage negotiations across a complex group.
  • Strong vision and excellent problem-solving skills, passionate, and have the drive to succeed.
  • Entrepreneurial in the style of working and have the energy level to create and lead a group of motivated individuals.
  • Ability to communicate and influence at high levels with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to learn new information rapidly and effectively.
  • Cross functional team leadership experience.
  • Establishing and leading external partnerships in immune mediated diseases.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $256,354 to $384,532. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
