The Program Manager, Responsible Conduct of Research Programs develops training activities and tracks compliance to meet federal and Fred Hutch requirements for the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) and Rigor, Reproducible and Transparency (RRT) training. Reports to the Director of the Office of Scientific Career Development. The program manager works with the Director in making decisions that affect the current and future success of the program.

This is a hybrid opportunity based out of our Seattle, WA location.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, manage and facilitate all details for the delivery of federally compliant Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) and Rigor, Reproducible and Transparency (RRT) training. This includes event and speaker management as well as management of administrative details
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance databases, documenting attendance at trainings, conferring completion certificates and the evaluation of programs
  • Collaborate with the Fred Hutch Office of Compliance, the Research Ethics Oversight Committee and the Rigor, Reproducible and Transparency Oversight Committee to ensure that RCR and RRT training meets the changing needs of research staff and trainees
  • Build relationships with faculty and experts both internally and externally to organize events
  • Collaborate with other departments at the Fred Hutch and UW to develop joint training programs
  • Develop and manage RCR/RRT communications to increase awareness of events and attendance requirements
  • Communicate RCR/RRT requirements to new scientific staff who are required to attend RCR or RRT training
  • Produce and distribute annual reports documenting the training provided and attendance compliance
  • Analyze national and local data and gain advice from national sources to inform best practices for RCR and RRT education and policies
  • With the Director, develop and monitor the RCR/RRT budget
  • Perform administrative duties within the Office of Scientific Career Development as assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BA or BS or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of five years post-bachelor (or three years post-master) experience in academic or research setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Budgeting and grant experience.
  • Strong supervisory skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with complex program management.
  • Knowledge of and experience with best practices for adult learning.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Team player.
  • Collaborative.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Suite.
  • Proficient with AirTable database management or willingness to learn.
  • Familiar with RCR federal compliance rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of biomedical research ethics and biomedical research terminology is strongly preferred.
  • Supervisory skills for the purpose of managing ethics education participants.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $72,946 to $109,408, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
