Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Scientist. We are seeking a candidate to lead the Research Core of the PlayReadVIP National Center at NYU Grossman School of Medicine (PI Alan Mendelsohn, MD). The Research Scientist will design and lead studies and evaluation related to PlayReadVIP, related/integrated models, and child development and parenting. PlayReadVIP is an NIH/NICHD-funded program designed prevent early disparities, using video-feedback in health care and the community to support family strengths (www.playreadvip.org). This role provides an opportunity to make major contributions to science with population impact as PlayReadVIP expands nationally.

Job Responsibilities:

Research and Science
    • Support planning and implementation of research/evaluation projects within the National Center and with collaborators.
    • Preparation of manuscripts, proposals, white papers, and presentations.
    • Data management, statistical analyses, and statistical interpretation.
    • Monitoring of milestones, data quality, and fidelity.
    • Overseeing progress across multiple research and evaluation projects.


Leadership
    • Strategic planning related to PlayReadVIP program development, PlayReadVIP research and evaluation, funding and sustainability, and setting priorities for grants and manuscripts.
    • Working in close collaboration with our multidisciplinary team of experts in pediatrics, developmental psychology, public health, education, and other fields.
    • Developing partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including community organizations, policy leaders, and investigators within and outside NYU.

Management
    • Grants management, including preparing and submitting reports, creating and maintaining budgets, and preparing and submitting funding renewals and new proposals.
    • Overseeing and implementing regulatory processes (e.g. IRB, NIH).
    • Project management, including scheduling and leading meetings; communicating with staff and collaborators; supervising staff; creating and following project timelines.
    • Staff management, including recruiting, onboarding, and training new staff and volunteers; monitoring of staff performance; direct supervision of staff, volunteers and trainees; providing training, continuing education opportunities, and mentorship.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a PhD or equivalent in developmental psychology, education, medicine, public health, or related; Strong background in early child development; 2+ years management experience. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; experience (professional, educational, or lived) related to children and parents diverse in race, ethnicity, culture, language, socioeconomic status, education, gender, sexual orientation, and/or other characteristics. Very strong independent writing skills, written and spoken communication skills, and data analytic skills required.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
