Position Summary

The pet grooming instructor will teach future pet groomers how to perform various grooming duties necessary to improve pets' hygiene and enhance physical appearance. Classes consist of both lecture and in-person labs including supervising and assisting students in the act of pet grooming. This position require pet grooming experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Learn the basics of First Aid and CPR;
Demonstrate knowledge of how to handle different types of dogs and behaviors;
Develop a basic understanding of the dog's physical structure;
Identify pet grooming vocabulary and medical terminology;
Identify safety hazards and prevent injury;
Learn how to use professional grooming techniques to get the animal clean, dry, and de-shedded or detangled based on their breed standard, coat type, and lifestyle;
Identify how to obtain pertinent information about the dog, how to book appointments, discussing grooming rates, how to evaluate inventory and keep good record keeping;
Perform pet grooming techniques including clippering, scissoring, hand stripping, carding, and de-shedding techniques;
Demonstrate their ability to maintain a clean and safe grooming workstation;
Work hands on with the instructor to achieve a finished groom on a variety of coat types.

Required Qualifications:

Pet Groomer with a minimum of 5 years experience.
