Accountabilities:

As the Translational Science Senior Director, you will be responsible for the implementation of translational and biomarker objectives for cellular therapies for immune-mediated diseases. Your focus will be on ensuring effective collaborations between research and development, establishing strong target-to-disease connections, differentiating AZ cellular therapeutics, and driving translational understanding of clinical trial data. You will be recognized as an authority in translational science and work on difficult drug projects and complex scientific problems, providing solutions that are highly innovative.

Essential Skills/Experience:
  • PhD, Medical Doctor or MD-PhD degree required.
  • 5 or more years of industry or combined academic/industry experience in clinical development or translational science.
  • Strong knowledge of the pathogenesis of immune mediated disease and the application of cellular, molecular technologies and models to drive program decisions, including those related to supporting value propositions.
  • Experience in clinical development of T-cell therapy and/or other advanced therapeutic modalities.
  • Experience in the inflammation and immunology clinical development
  • Prior experience in BM and precision medicine, IND filing and ideally BAL filing.
  • Proven ability to learn new information rapidly and effectively
  • Significant experience in early and/or late phase clinical development.
  • Significant experience in the authoring of relevant regulatory documents.
  • Detailed understanding of the full drug development process.
  • Detailed understanding of translational and clinical research methodology and biostatistics principles.
  • Thorough command of FDA, EMA, MHRA and ICH GCP guidelines.
  • Attention to detail, strive to generate high-quality work, and sense of passion and urgency to achieve team and program goals.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects.
  • Demonstrated track record in delivering results.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and strategic planning skills.

  • Cross functional team leadership experience
  • Establishing and leading external partnerships in immune mediated diseases

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $265,780 to $386,671. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
