Brief Description

Maintains, installs and replaces all Dallas County facilities plumbing which consists of repairing and replacing sinks, toilets, tubs and other fixtures. Eliminates sewer stop-ups and repairs brick walls and floor tiles. Works under limited supervision.

Detailed Description

Installs and repairs toilets, sinks, tubs, faucets and other plumbing related fixtures, including lawn sprinklers and thread pipe. Unstops sinks, commodes, laterals and main lines with appropriate machine tools. Performs repairs and maintenance on plumbing systems. Repairs and replaces brick, concrete walls, floors and drains. Repairs motors, pumps and fire sprinkler systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high schoolGED program. One (1) year of work related experience (per Facilities hiringpromotion matrix). Must pass a security clearance check. Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License and good driving record. Will be required to provide a copy of 10-year driving history. Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code. Requires the ability to climb ladders and lift weights in excess of 30 lbs. unassisted. Ability to withstand prolonged sitting, standing, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, stretching, lifting and climbing ladders. Must be able to work in varying conditions, surroundings and weather conditions. May be subject to changes in shift schedules and work locations.

Additional Details

A stipend of $2,000 annually is given to candidates who possess a journeyman or master level plumbing license.Special Note:  One (1) year of work related experience can be substituted for one (1) year of formal training or any combination of the two.An extensive pre-employment background investigation will be conducted on all applicants who have been offered a position with Dallas County.  The hiring process involves successful completion of each step.  The steps include: Criminal History Review, Traffic Violations Record, Review of Personal History Statement and Documents, Physical Examination, and Background Investigation.
