ABOUT THE ROLE:
  • The Associate Release Manager role is responsible for supporting the software release cycle to ensure successful delivery of software products. The role requires the ability to gather release related inputs from different teams, support the release management process and support documentation for version control. The role requires the ability to use communication and collaboration skills with multiple teams and stakeholders to help maintain release management policies, standards, and consider risks and potential issues. The role also provides support in conducting post-release analysis and returning applications to previous versions when necessary. The position creates notes on release updates and conducts research on process improvement initiatives. By performing their work effectively, the incumbent supports a seamless experience for end-users across IT functions.


Responsibilities

WHAT THE ROLE WILL DO:
  • Gather release related inputs from development, testing, project management teams and other stakeholders
  • Support the processes and standards required to govern the release management process
  • Identify and report various factors impacting version control to broader team, to support version control through the software development lifecycle
  • Support the creation of updates to inform stakeholders about release schedules, changes, impacts, and other information related to releases
  • Identify potential risks and issues related to software releases and communicate them to senior team members
  • Support documentation of releases by outlining updates and recording changes for future reference
  • Support communications provided to other IT teams such as QA, operation and DevOps related to release management policies and standards
  • Conduct research on process improvement initiatives and leading practice
  • Gather data points needed to conduct post-release analysis
  • Support the creation of back-up and rollback planning with application and infrastructure stakeholders to help return applications to previous versions
  • Research regulatory requirements and standards such as ISO or ITIL, to support compliance of release processes

This position has a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and the option for working remotely two days.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The

Qualifications

Education
  • Required
    • Associate's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or in lieu of a degree, at least 2 years of experience in software development or software release management
Skills and Experience
  • 0-2 years of experience in Release Management or similar role
  • Understanding of release management and collaboration tools
  • Experience in assisting with planning and executing software releases in complex environments
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, SDLC, and DevOps Methodology
  • Good communication and collaboration skills to work with various teams and stakeholders
  • Experience in developing and executing repeatable build and deploy steps
  • Good organizational skills to manage multiple releases
