Brief Description

Performs any combination of tasks involving janitorial, housekeeping, general maintenance, laundry and food services and assists the supervisor in leading and instructing staff. Identifies, reports andor remedies any facility related health, safety and security concerns.

Detailed Description

Performs janitorial duties such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting, buffing, stripping and waxing floors offices, and common areas using various equipment to complete tasks. Performs general laborer tasks including moving furniture, file cabinets, and other property using various equipment to complete tasks. Inspects food received for quality, monitors temperature of refrigerator and ensures other equipment is operating properly. Orders, receives, and maintains inventory of clothing, bedding, supplies and personal hygiene items records usage and maintains clothing by washing, folding, sewing and ironing. Directs and trains general attendants. Performs daily inspections and notifies management regarding the status of health and safety concerns. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Completion of tenth (10th) grade from an accredited school or additional equivalent work experience. One (1) year work related experience. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Must be able to operate vehicles, buffers, vacuums, lifts or other equipment to complete assigned tasks. Must pass criminal background check. (Juvenile: Mandatory drug testing prior to employment, and will be subject to random, unannounced drug andor alcohol testing during employment). May require prolonged kneeling, bending, squatting, sitting, standing, walking, climbing, twisting, and the ability to lift and carry files, boxes, and other materials up to 45 lbs., unassisted. Ability to operate equipment efficiently and safely. Must be able to work in varying conditions, surroundings and all weather conditions. An employee may be transferred to another department, shift, location, or facility based on the needs of the Department. Working in a 24-hour facility may make the employee subject to working mandatory overtime or remaining on duty and working all, or a part of, an additional shift ( double shift ). The incumbent is may be considered to be essential personnel subject to being held over or called back to a work location or alternate site at all times. When required, you will be notified by your supervisor. Must be at least 21 years of age (for applicable positions) and must pass all portions (physicalwritten) of the Juvenile Academy to continue employment or all standards related to PREA and Ethics for specific positions.
