Brief Description Provides direct services to elder abuse victims including safety planning, legal assistance, resources and referrals, court-based victim advocacy, and post-conviction notification for victims. Assists crime victims by notifying them of their rights, referring crime victims to community services, and by providing crime victims with much needed support and information. Provides an understanding of the criminal justice process, increasing victim participation, and enhancing the victim's satisfaction with the handling and outcome of the criminal case. Detailed Description Collaborates with District Attorney staff and community partners during elder abuse investigations and other forms of outreach to involved family members. Maintains all demographic information, explains the court/trial system, Crime Victims Compensation information, makes referral to crisis counseling, and other resources. Updates victim(s)/witnesses on case/trial status; maintaining contact with witnesses, agencies, victims and their families. May assist in obtaining location information for missing victims/witnesses. Creates safety plans for elder abuse victims.Handles injury to an elderly person, family violence, abuse of a power of attorney or other legal documents, theft from a victim with diminished capacity, fiduciary theft, frauds and swindles and exploitation of an elderly victim cases.Serves as liaison between staff, management, other departments, law enforcement to facilitate interaction and flow of information to ensure goals, objectives and mission are communicated to staff. Serves as primary contact between parties including status of case(s).Establishes contact with victims and their families, and maintain contact with them through follow-up calls throughout the pendency of the cases.Performs other duties as assigned Job Requirements Education, Experience and Training: This position requires education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a job related field of studySpecial Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. . Ability to effectively interact with the public and other staff while maintaining the confidentiality of victims who seek services.Physical/Environmental Requirements: Standard office environment.
