Job Summary:

The PAC Grassroots Manager will play a crucial role in supporting Walgreens' Corporate Affairs department by developing and implementing Political Action Committee (PAC) and grassroots engagement programs. This position will oversee all aspects of PAC management, including strategy development, fundraising efforts, and targeted contributions, while also encouraging and coordinating political involvement across the company. The PAC Grassroots Manager will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, build relationships with campaigns and party organizations, and organize PAC fundraising events to support Walgreens' advocacy priorities.
In addition to PAC and grassroots management, the PAC Grassroots Manager will provide support for strategic projects within Government Relations, collaborating with external partners, consultants, and internal teams to ensure successful implementation of initiatives. This role will also be responsible for tracking and reporting on program outcomes, preparing communications and briefing materials, and assisting with budget oversight to ensure effective use of resources. Through these efforts, the PAC Grassroots Manager will help position Walgreens as a strong and active advocate for policy changes that support the company's business goals and objectives.

Job Responsibilities:
  • PAC Membership Growth and Fundraising Strategy:
    • Develop and implement creative marketing strategies to drive PAC membership growth and increase fundraising receipts for WalgreenCoPAC.
    • Coordinate targeted solicitations to potential PAC members through customized communications, including letters, calls, emails, and other materials.
    • Track all PAC contribution requests and maintain up-to-date records on donations to ensure alignment with PAC contribution strategy.
    • Conduct ongoing PAC research and analyze fundraising trends within the pharmacy industry, incorporating new ideas to refine and enhance Walgreens' fundraising initiatives.
    • Connect with fundraising professionals from other organizations to share ideas, benchmark successful practices, and bring fresh insights into Walgreens' PAC strategies.
  • Grassroots Program Development and Employee Engagement:
    • Partner with Government Relations staff to design and execute a dynamic federal grassroots program that amplifies Walgreens' lobbying efforts.
    • Create and distribute clear, impactful communications to engage employees and management on grassroots action items and priority legislative issues.
    • Identify effective communication channels to maximize grassroots campaign engagement, tracking and reporting on campaign success and outcomes.
    • Grow Walgreens' grassroots network by fostering active participation and building a base of engaged employees for advocacy initiatives.
    • Work with operations staff to coordinate grassroots events, creating resources (e.g., event kits, checklists) to assist local marketing teams in hosting successful events.
    • Prepare briefing materials, including tailored biographies and legislative insights on policymakers, to support local grassroots events in collaboration with Government Relations.
  • Government Relations and Partner Coordination:
    • Support and manage relationships with external Government Relations vendors and consultants, setting clear expectations and ensuring adherence to expectations and operational success.
    • Assist in managing strategic projects and working groups within Government Relations, coordinating efforts across the department to drive key initiatives.
    • Support the Government Relations team in executing strategies to engage with policymakers and the broader pharmacy community around issues important to Walgreens.
    • Prepare reports and updates for both internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain alignment on progress and priorities.
    • Assist with Government Relations budget oversight, including tracking cross team spend and escalating budget risk.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of experience in PAC, fundraising, grassroots, or political affairs.
  • Knowledge of Federal and state fundraising laws and regulations.
  • Experience attending to more than one issue /project with more than one completion date simultaneously.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: opening a workbook, inserting a row, selecting font style and size, formatting cells as currency, using copy, paste and save functions, aligning text, selecting cells, renaming a worksheet, inserting a column, selecting a chart style, inserting a worksheet, setting margins, selecting page orientation, using spell check and/or printing worksheets).
  • Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: inserting, rearranging, hiding and deleting slides, navigating between slides, increasing list level, adding, centering and editing text, changing views, inserting a table or a note, moving objects, printing outline view and/or running a slide show).
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: opening a document, cutting, pasting and aligning text, selecting font type and size, changing margins and column width, sorting, inserting bullets, pictures and dates, using find and replace, undo, spell check, track changes, review pane and/or print functions).
  • At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
