Performs first line supervision of support staff which includes: hiring, training, directing and evaluating clericalsupport staff and researchingresolving more complex issues relating to programmatic functions. First line supervision of a clericalsupport staff.

Detailed Description

Supervises, coordinates and trains clerical staff to: receive, file, and process documents maintain recordsfilesreports receive and deposit feefines collected and provide excellent customer service to citizens. Assigns tasks to staff and ensures effective delivery of service to: assign and coordinate tasks review completed tasks for accuracy, compliance, and timeliness provide feedback to clerical staff and collect data for performance measures. Supports the Elected Official by: scheduling and coordinating all programmatic activities with the elected official department head meeting regularly with the Elected Official to establish goals and objectives and updates on programs for staff. implementing policies and procedures for full compliance and establishing and maintaining effective relationships with staff and other team members. Researches and resolves more complex issues related to the program functions and prepares responses to inquiries as well as develops standard operating policies and procedures for staff training and development. Assists other team leaders with employee related issues by: serving on an interviewing team coordinating all leave activities maintaining time and attendance data ensuring employees attend appropriate training and providing recommendations on staff to Elected Official Department Head. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high schoolGED Program. Five (5) years of work related experience or 75 hours of college credit or a combination of the two. Ability to type 35 wpm or 70 kspm, with knowledge of computer applications and standard word processing software. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, organize and process work and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees and the general public.

Candidates for all clerical, administrative andor secretarial positions will be required to take and pass at least one skill(s) test(s) which will be determined by the Elected Official or Department Head based on the position and the operational needs of the department. Testing may include one or more of the following: 10-key, Coding, Data Entry, Filing, Grammar, Math, MS Excel, MS Word, Proof Reading, Spelling, Sorting and Timed Typing (3 minute).An extensive pre-employment background investigation will be conducted on all applicants who have been offered positions with Dallas County.
