Description

Conducts pretrial investigations to determine the release of individuals; performs risk assessment and indigent screening with appropriate tools, prepares release documents and bond recommendations for court.

Responsibilities

1. Conducts pretrial defendant investigations, including collateral contacts as needed for verification; develops release recommendations from the use of a validated risk assessment and indigent screening tools, and testifies in court as needed; processes release documents.

2. Monitors court dates and notifies offenders of changes in court dates; communicates with offenders Pretrial Officer and courts to reschedule missed court appearances; and monitors inmate kite request for pretrial services.

3.Serves as expediter to facilitate a timely release from jail;

4. Liaison with local law enforcement, the public, community agencies, and other County departments;

5. Responds to inquiries for information and assistance from the community-at-large, law enforcement, and other requesting parties and entities.

6. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Training:

Education and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Criminology, Sociology, Business Management, Public Administration, or in a job related field of study.

Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver's license, with a good driving record. Must pass an extensive background investigation. Mandatory drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

May be required to visit defendants/clients inside a secured facility with potential exposure to hepatitis, tuberculosis, other diseases, and lice.

Working in a 24-hour facility may make the employee subject to working mandatory overtime or remaining on duty and working all, or a part of, an additional shift ("double shift").=

The incumbent is / may be considered to be 'essential personnel' subject to being held over or called back to a work location or alternate site at all times. When required, you will be notified by your supervisor.
