Provides nursing care to patients in the field, which includes giving and reading skin tests, and dispensing medications to support medical objectives. Responsibilities 1. Visits patients in homes and in scheduled nursing clinics and provides nursing services according to protocol. Performs venipuncture, dispenses medication, collects sputum, and gives injections. 2. Maintains records according to protocol. 3. Follows up on patients who miss scheduled appointments. 4. Screens and investigates contacts according to procedure. 5. Provides and delivers medications as needed and monitors drug compliance. 6. Schedules patients by treatment regime and maintains up-to-date tickler files. 7. Educates patients on transmission and pathogenesis of tuberculosis and on compliance with prescribed treatment. 8. Assembles dot packs and coordinates distribution according to protocol. 9. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Experience and Training: Graduation from an accredited high school/GED program. Completion of an accredited LVN program. No experience required. Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Licensed in the State of Texas as a vocational nurse. Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license, with a good driving record. Physical/Environmental Requirements: Must be able to walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods. Requires the ability to lift weights in excess of 50 lbs., assisted. |
