Description

Supervises program activities by planning, implementing and ensuring quality services; consults and educates health care providers and the public, and serves as a liaison with outside agencies.

Management Scope: Supervises nursing and support staff.

Responsibilities

1. Interprets and implements agency policies and program goals, providing supervision and direction to staff in the performance of duties.

2. Provides consultation and education to health care providers and to the public regarding health issues.

3. Coordinates health programs; develops and promotes public relations with other agencies; and attends meetings on the local, state and national level.

4. Identifies and tracks trends and outbreaks in reportable disease/conditions, and provides reports of activities and statistical information.

5. Creates and recommends the implementation of policies and procedures for the control of diseases, outbreaks of diseases and emergency preparedness plans.

6. Makes staff assignments; hires and orientates new staff; conducts evaluations; monitors time and attendance; and participates in budget preparation.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Training:
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing. Three (3) years of professional work related experience, including one (1) year supervisory experience.

Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. Knowledge of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, with good driving record and reliable transportation.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, with ability to lift/transport supplies and equipment. Exposure to blood, various illnesses and diseases. Ability to travel to various work site locations.
