Description

Monitors and addresses the needs of a Civil Jury by conducting roll call, answering questions, providing directions for the court, and performing administrative/clerical support to the presiding judge.

Responsibilities

1. Maintains decorum, enforces courtroom rules of behaviour and makes announcements.

2. Seats jury panels, gives instructions to juries, escorts juries to and from jury room, and numbers and delivery jury lists.

3. Monitors the courtroom proceedings and general activity to ensure appropriate behaviour and decorum from jurors and court room visitors.

4. Performs clerical and administrative duties for the judge

5. Delivers reports or other items,

6. Displays exhibits for the benefit of the jury as required.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Training:
Graduation from an accredited high school/GED program. Four (4) years job related experience or 60 hours of college or a combination of the two. Experience in a customer service environment a plus.

Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications and standard word processing and spreadsheet software. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, organize and process work. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments, and the general public.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:
General courtroom/office environment. Extensive walking may be required.
