Delivers a broad range of medical services to individuals in Dallas County. Management Scope: May supervise nurse clinicians and other healthcare staff. Responsibilities 1. Conducts medical screenings in Dallas County in compliance with approved medical practices as well as local, state and federal standards, to include taking patients medical histories, examining patients, ordering and interpreting x-rays, laboratory and other diagnostic tests, conferring with physician as appropriate, and relieving the physician of routine duties and procedures 2. Diagnoses and prepares treatment plans in accordance with medical directives by treating minor injuries, responding to emergencies, prescribing medication for allergies, colds, etc., and ordering or carries out therapy. 3. Provides evaluation and treatment for infectious diseases. 4. Reviews and provides quality control on all patient charts to ensure diagnosis and treatments are in accordance with medical directives. 5. Coordinates and resolves health care issues with other departments and outside agencies providing care to individuals housed in Dallas County. 6. May supervise nurse clinicians and other healthcare employees as assigned. 7. Serves as a medical consultant and provides technical collaboration and guidance for other healthcare professionals. 8. Prepares various reports and procedures for departmental and outside agency use. Orders equipment and supplies and monitors spending as appropriate. 9. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Experience and Training: Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. One (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse and one (1) year experience in an advanced nursing role or in a specialty field or; Must have Graduated from a CAHEA approved Physician Assistant program and possess one (1) year of related experience. Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse and Physician Assistant in the State of Texas. Knowledge of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must be able to perform specialized nursing skills and medical services. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, with a good driving record. Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Dallas County. Physical/Environmental Requirements: Ability to lift/transport clinic related supplies up to 25 lbs., unassisted. Ability to visit various work site locations. |
