Assist with supervising a shift of Courtesy Patrol employees including scheduling, statistical and incident reporting to ensure proper response is given to congestion causing incidents by Patrol and Dispatch. Management Scope: Supervises, recruits, trains Courtesy Patrol Technicians approximately 10. Responsibilities 1. Trains Courtesy Patrol Staff in assisting motorists with disabled vehicles on the highway system, removal of debris from the roadway, clearing congestion problems on roadways, and handling of emergency incidents. 2. Responds to major accidents/incidents on the highway system, assists in analyzing the situation and determines plan of action for removing the incident. 3. Assists in supervising assigned shift(s) in the provision of emergency and normal roadside assistance to motorists. 4. Assist local authorities with traffic management plans for large special events, movement of hazardous waste and the traffic flow after hazardous waste spills in conjunction with the Fire Marshall and related emergency response officials and troubleshoots unusual traffic flow problems in conjunction with local law enforcement. 5. Assist with making presentations to civic and local governments groups and agencies to inform of proper methods for highway travel safety and how to manage emergency or non-normal incidents. 5. Keeps abreast of new traffic management procedures and trends and trains staff accordingly; Ensures personnel matters are coordinated according to County and departmental policies and performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Experience and Training: Education and experience equivalent to an Associates Degree from an accredited college or three (3) years as a courtesy patrol and one year in a lead/trainer role (four years total). Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of basic personnel management, automotive repair, use of hand power tools and emergency tools. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and good driving record. Knowledge of basic automotive repair, highway construction, and use of hand power and emergency tools. Mandatory drug test prior to and during employment. Must successfully complete a polygraph, psychological exam, and extensive background investigation and is subject to random, unannounced drug/alcohol testing. Ability to understand and follow regulations and policies, as well as verbal procedural tasks and instructions. Work requires extensive contact with law enforcement officials and the public. Physical/Environmental Requirements: May require prolonged driving and standing. May require moderate lifting of tires, hand power tools, and emergency equipment. Works outside and is subject to all types of weather condition |
