Description

The Lead Technical Solution Architect is responsible for the roadmap, design, strategy and implementation of core, foundational and reusable technology solutions and capabilities to Sherwin-Williams' IT organization. The Lead Technical Solution Architect role will align with our business product strategy for this customer facing suite of tools. The incumbent will work with cross-functional teams across the organization to create and maintain the technology roadmap, establish architectural standards and principles, and lead the design and implementation of scalable and resilient solutions.

The ideal candidate must have an in-depth understanding of architectural patterns, principles, and frameworks, and be well-versed in key technology platforms, infrastructure, database, security, legal compliance rules, and software platforms. The incumbent should have a strong understanding of the technical architecture of the packaged solutions such as Azure cloud, Coupa, Salesforce etc. The Technical Solution Architect will provide technical leadership and influence strategic decision-making in support of the Sherwin-Williams Architecture practice which in turn supports and enables business goals.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning
  • Work closely across technology organizations (Enterprise Architecture, Enterprise Data Organization, Platform Engineering etc.) to identify, architect and design foundational technology capabilities that will set the base for our Digital transformation initiatives across product development and Integration
  • Responsible for the roadmap of Technology architecture in partnership with Enterprise and Domain Architecture groups
  • Identify solution accelerators for various Enablement teams across Digital Technology (Microservices , Digital Integration Layer, Low-code No-code, DevOps etc) to increase adoption of modernization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, UX, data analysts, product owners, product managers, and business analysts to design and implement scalable, high-performing solutions.
  • Partner with key stakeholders across Collision Core Applications, Collision Core Color, and Product teams to understand the holistic strategy and roadmap for the suite. Identify opportunities to improve processes and workflows through technology solutions.
  • Lead the development of high-level and detailed solution architecture designs, including technical specifications.
  • Accountable for technical decisions, documentation and direction for high-level designs, approaches and architectural roadmaps.
  • Facilitate, conduct, or participate in proof-of-concept, pilot and MVP activities for key technical areas.
  • Provide thought leadership on the latest trends and advancements and apply them to the organization's technology strategy.
  • Ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of technology solutions, and address any potential risks or issues that may impact business operations.
  • Provide gap, risk and impact analysis.
  • Work with Digital Technology owners to identify and address operational impact and lower the total cost of ownership for IT capabilities.
  • Conduct regular assessments of the technology architecture to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to senior leadership.
Acquisition & Deployment
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend new technologies and software products to be deployed as part of the organization's digital transformation initiative.
  • Work with internal and external teams to manage the deployment and integration of new technologies and software products.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of deployed technologies and software products, ensuring that they meet agreed-upon service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the deployment and operation of new technologies and software products.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the deployment of new technologies and software products, ensuring that security and compliance requirements are met.
Operational Management
  • Assist in maintaining a culture of continuous improvement, including implementing metrics to measure the effectiveness of the technology architecture and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Align to cybersecurity strategies to protect the organization from internal and external threats. Proactively suggest methods to address gaps.
  • Overseeing the deployment of new technology solutions and ensuring that they are integrated seamlessly with existing systems and processes.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
Incidental Functions
  • Participate in internal and external committees, working groups, and other forums to share knowledge, promote best practices, and drive improvements in technical solutions.
  • Conduct training sessions, workshops, and other educational activities to share knowledge and improve technical skills among team members and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in hiring and talent management processes to identify and recruit top talent, as well as develop and retain existing team members.
  • Serve as a mentor or coach to other technical staff by providing guidance, feedback, and support to help them develop their skills and achieve their professional goals.


Qualifications

Formal Education & Certification
  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology field of study (e.g., Information Technology, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Systems Management, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.
Knowledge & Experience
  • 12+ years of IT experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in designing, developing and implementing IT solutions
  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise and/or solution architecture and architectural frameworks, including the creation of current, transitional and future state architectures.
  • Strong experience with modern product development and Integration architectures
  • In-depth understanding of architectural patterns, principles, and frameworks
  • Strong technical background in key technology platforms, infrastructure, database, security, legal compliance rules, and software platforms
  • Broad range of technical knowledge with experience in multiple technology domains
  • Demonstrated experience with optimizing Software Development Lifecycles (SDLC).
  • Experience with operating in a multiple stakeholder environment including the successful handling of priority conflicts and stakeholder alignments.
  • Experience working in a Lean or Agile development environment a plus
  • Demonstrated skill with presentation and communication tools such as MS PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience in designing & implementing technical solutions customer facing products
  • Experience in Cloud computing, preferably with Azure
  • Experience in Azure Data Factory
  • Experience in handling distributed environment preferably powered by Microservices
  • Experience in Event driven architectures, publish subscribe patterns preferably in a cloud native environment
  • Experience in DevOps, Agile and CI/CD
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Certification in relevant technologies (e.g. CISSP, CISM, etc.)
  • Experience in project management tools such as JIRA.
